Mind Control Drug
Experts are warning about a dangerous drug currently being dealt in Colombia that can reportedly rob an individual of their free will, making them vulnerable to criminals and attackers, or erase their memories.
The drug is known as scopolamine, and according to Gizmodo reporter Sam Biddle, the substance, which is derived from plants like cocaine, “will turn you into an insane zombie and probably kill you.”
Scopolamine, otherwise known as “The Devil’s Breath,” was tested by the CIA as a truth serum during the Cold War, and it was also reportedly used by Nazi interrogators during World War II, he added.
Likewise, Beth Stebner of the Daily Mail said that “stories surrounding the drug are the stuff of urban legends, with some telling horror stories of how people were raped, forced to empty their bank accounts, and even coerced into giving up an organ.”
VICE correspondent Ryan Duffy interviewed a drug dealer operating out of the Columbian capital of Bogota, who told him that the drug was, in Stebner’s words, “frightening for the simplicity in which it can be administered” and prevents a person from remembering anything that happened to them while under the influence.
Duffy himself described his experiences as it relates to the drug on the VICE website.
“When VICE initially asked me to go down to Colombia to dig into this Scopolamine story… I had only a vague understanding of the drug, but the idea of a substance that renders a person incapable of exercising free-will seemed liked a recipe for hilarity and the YouTube hall of fame. I even spent a little time brainstorming the various ways I could transport some of it back to the states and had a pretty good list going of different ways to utilize it on my buddies,” he said.
“The original plan was for me to sample the drug myself to really get an idea of the effect it had on folks,” Duffy said. “The producer and camera man had flew down to Bogota ahead of me to confirm some meetings and start laying down the groundwork. By the time I arrived a few days later, things had changed dramatically. Their first few days in the country had apparently been such a harrowing montage of freaked-out dealers and unimaginable horror stories about Scopolamine that we decided I was absolutely not going to be doing the drug. All elements of humor and novelty were rapidly stripped away during my first few days in town. After meeting only a couple people with firsthand experience, the story took a far darker turn than we ever could have imagined.”

Classic!
Training character strengths makes you happy
Anyone who trains character strengths increases their sense of wellbeing, a large-scale study conducted by a team of psychologists from the University of Zurich has concluded. It proved for the first time that this kind of training works. The largest impact was evident in training the strengths “curiosity”, “gratitude”, “optimism”, “humor” and “enthusiasm”.
Character strengths can be defined as traits that are rated as morally positive. That they are positively linked to life satisfaction has already been shown in many studies. That they have a causal effect on life satisfaction and that practicing them triggers an increase in the sense of wellbeing, however, has now been proved by Willibald Ruch, René T. Proyer and Claudia Buschor from the Department of Personality and Assessment at the University of Zurich for the first time.
Practice pays off
For their current study, the team of researchers randomly divided a sample of 178 adults into three groups: While one group trained the strengths “curiosity”, “gratitude”, “optimism”, “humor” and “enthusiasm” for a period of ten weeks, the second group worked with the strengths “appreciation of beauty”, “creativity”, “kindness”, “love of learning” and “foresight”. The third group served as a control and did not do any exercises. The authors of the study recorded three main results: There was particularly a significant increase in life satisfaction compared to the control group in the group that trained curiosity, gratitude, optimism, humor and enthusiasm. Compared to before they began the exercises, however, both groups benefited from the strength training. “Anyone who trained one or more strengths reported an increase in their sense of wellbeing,” concludes Willibald Ruch, a professor of personality psychology and diagnostics. “This manifested itself in the fact that these participants were more cheerful or more often in a good mood, for instance.” The third finding was that people who learned to control their actions and feelings more effectively during the training period and developed more enthusiasm benefited most from the training.
The exercises consisted of activities that the test subjects could easily incorporate into their daily routine. For example, they practiced gratitude by writing a thank-you letter to someone who had played an important role in their lives and trained their appreciation of beauty by paying attention to moments and situations in which they felt admiration for something beautiful. This could be anything from people and things they liked to special abilities and talents of fellow human beings or moving gestures and actions.
Positive psychology and character strengths
Character strengths and their connection with wellbeing is an important research field in positive psychology. In recent years, a new direction has established itself under this umbrella that mainly focuses on researching positive traits and is aimed at discovering what makes life most worth living – what constitutes life satisfaction, in other words. Positive psychology therefore focuses on topics that have long been neglected by psychology.

Megachurch pastor arrested after 'abusing his teenage daughter because she wanted to go to a party'
Megachurch pastor and televangelist Creflo Dollar - who has drawn scrutiny for his flashy lifestyle and preaching that prosperity is good - was arrested early on Friday for allegedly roughing up his 15-year-old daughter at his Atlanta home.
Fayette County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call of domestic violence at the property in Fayette County around 1am, said investigator Brent Rowan.
The pastor and his daughter were arguing over whether she could go to a party when Dollar 'got physical' with her, leaving her with 'superficial injuries,' Mr Rowan said.

The 15-year-old was the one who called authorities, and her 19-year-old sister corroborated the story.
Dollar faces misdemeanor charges of simple battery and cruelty to children. He was released from Fayette County jail on bond on Friday morning.
'As a father I love my children and I always have their best interest at heart at all times, and I would never use my hand to ever cause bodily harm to my children,' Dollar said in a statement released by his lawyer Nikki Bonner.

'The facts in this case will be handled privately to further protect my children. My family thanks you for your prayers and continued support.'
Dollar will make no further comments since he's involved in the ongoing criminal matter, but he is expected to preach on Sunday, Ms Bonner said.
The 50-year-old leads the Creflo Dollar Ministries and is the pastor for World Changers Church International in the Atlanta suburb of College Park, which serves nearly 30,000 members, according to the church's website.
World Changers Church-New York hosts over 6,000 worshippers each week, the website says. Four satellite churches are located in Georgia along with others in Los Angeles, Indianapolis, Washington, Cleveland, Dallas and Houston.
He and his wife Taffi, a co-pastor at the church, have five children, according to the website.
Dollar is a native of College Park and says he received a vision for World Changers Ministries Christian Center in 1986.
He held the first service, in front of only eight people, in the cafeteria of Kathleen Mitchell Elementary School in College Park, the website says.
His ministry grew quickly, moved into a modest-sized chapel and was renamed World Changers Church International.

The church moved into its present location, an 8,500-seat sanctuary called the World Dome, on Christmas eve 1995.

Dollar said in a 2007 interview with The Associated Press that he renounced his salary from the church, and his income only comes from personal investments, including a real estate residential property business and horse breeding company called Dollar Ranch.
He's published more than 30 books, focusing mostly on family and life issues, including debt management.
'I stopped taking a salary,' he said. 'But no one ask the question, 'Where are you getting your money from?' Well, I have boxes of invitations to speak. At first, I was glad to preach for anyone. What I didn't know was I received a love offering for preaching. Back then, it was for $25 bucks. But over the years, people began to appreciate what I was bringing to them.'
He said in the interview that he sometimes got up to $100,000 for a single appearance on his packed schedule of speaking engagements.
'That tells you where my money comes from,' he said.
Along with Bishop Eddie Long, Dollar is one of the most prominent African-American preachers based around Atlanta who have built successful ministries on the prosperity gospel, which teaches that God wants to bless the faithful with earthly riches.

Married: Dollar and his wife Taffi, pictured, have five children
Ministers in this tradition often hold up their own wealth as evidence that the teaching works.
'When most people hear prosperity, they hear money,' he said in the 2007 interview.
'They're are not incorrect but are incomplete. When I define prosperity, I define it from a biblical point. If you go into the Hebrew version of the Bible, prosperity is define as peace, wholeness and continuing well being.'
While it may seem like a contrived name for a man who preaches the prosperity gospel, Dollar is named after his father, Creflo Dollar Sr.
'If I was on the other side and heard some preacher with the name Reverend Dollar, I would probably have some issues as well. It becomes a responsibility,' he said in the 2007 interview. 'God must've had a sense of humor giving it to me.'

Bailed: Dollar, pictured leaving Fayette County jail on Friday, faces misdemeanor charges of simple battery and cruelty to children
The preacher, who's known for his pinstriped suits and charismatic sermons, has written several books offering followers his advice on how to get out of debt and take lessons from the Bible in building wealth so they can better live as Christians.
'True prosperity is measured not by what you take out of the Book and how use what you've received to benefit mankind,' he wrote in his 1999 book, 'Total Life Prosperity: 14 Practical Steps to Receiving God's Full Blessing.'
'It's having wealth, health, and the wisdom to do as God commands,'
In another passage, he promises readers: 'No longer do poverty, sickness, addiction, and fear have free course to rule and reign in your life. You no longer have to allow the circumstances of marital discord, rebellious children, or unemployment to dominate your household.'
Mr Long and Dollar were among six televangelists investigated by Iowa U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley from 2007 to 2010, following questions about personal use of church-owned airplanes, luxury homes and credit cards by megachurch pastors and their families.

Cashed up: Dollar, pictured in a brochure for his church, has said in the past that he gets up to $100,000 for speaking engagements
The report did not find any definitive wrongdoing, but it expressed concern about the lack of financial oversight at such large ministries.
That wasn't Mr Dollar's only brush with controversy.
When former heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield filed for divorce in 1999, Dollar refused to give a court-ordered statement in the case about how much money Holyfield had given to the church.
Janice Holyfield's lawyer said he had determined that Holyfield gave $403,000 to the church in 1998, and donated $3.9 million in the 60 days before the ex-champ filed for divorce in March 1999.
Dollar's lawyer said he should not be required to testify because of the separation of church and state, pastor-parishioner privilege and several state and biblical laws.
The pastor vowed in sermons at the time not to release the information because he didn't want to facilitate a divorce.
Dollar was found in contempt of court, but he was not punished because the Holyfields
ended up reaching a settlement, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported at the time.
In December 1999, 100 Fulton County police officers were scolded by the county's ethics board for accepting $ 1,000 apiece from Dollar, who said he wanted to recognise their service, the newspaper reported at the time.
But the gesture came a month after two traffic tickets Dollar had received were downgraded to warnings.

Consider hypnosis....
I'm going to be helping teach the Mind Control Hypnosis Seminar starting on July 20th.
My personal experience is that this training and style of hypnosis is very much UNlike most other techniques that you've learned.
I base that statement on personal experience and what previous students have told me.
Everyone into mind control seems to interested in the covert techniques and they completely overlook the OVERT hypnotic methods much to their detriment.
What you'll learn is the completely OVERT technique of hypnosis where you are The Hypnotist and everyone else is potential subject.
There is no worry about being covert or sneaky because you are out in the open hypnotizing people right and left. My experence tells me that the direct method of hypnosis has some awesome potential for immediate and dramitic result.
If you're interested in attending check out the web site http://TheHypnosisSeminar.com
If you have questions I've left my personal contact information on web page.
I'd love to see you there.

My Review of "Character Disturbance: A Phenomenon of Our Age"
The book "Character Disturbance: A Phenomenon of Our Age" by George K. Simon Ph.D. is one I would recommend to a lot of people. Especially, those people interested in persuasion, influence and how the mind works. The book Character Disturbance is a psychologists description of how the most manipulative people in the world think and operate. Believe me, it is not a pleasant experience for those who live with them.
Those people who are “character disturbed” will use guilt, blame, lies, coercion and fear with very little hesitation to get what they want. It’s important to understand that us normal neurotics can seldom correct their behavior.
Why? Because it works.
The author clarifies that Disturbed Characters cannot be dealt with using traditional counseling methods because traditional methods focus on how to cope with negative emotions like guilt, shame, anxiety and fear and these emotions are typically not felt by Disturbed Characters!
For the Disturbed Character “doing the right thing” simply means giving them what they want regardless of the sacrifice it causes you.
Does this sound like anyone you know?
Dr. Simon draws a clear distinction between us normal “neurotics”, who are susceptible to negative emotions and the Disturbed Character, who is not. This dynamic will make the average neurotic seem like a tasty meal for the Disturbed Character. Once they’ve sucked the life from the neurotic, taken their money, affection and emotional stability they move on to the find someone else to devour.
How do you deal with these people? Avoiding them is the best advice but that is harder than one might think. Their Character Disturbance will only reveal itself once you are seduced and entwined within their icy grip.
There are ways to deal with these people . One of my favorite examples in the book is how the psychologist deals with the relationship between a manipulative son (the Disturbed Character) and mother (a severe neurotic). It has to read to be appreciated.
The book provided me a with lots of opportunity to self-reflect so that I might measure just where I might be on the neurotic/Disturbed spectrum. It also reveal some great ways to deal with some situations that I occasionally experience with people.
Enjoy,
Dantalion Jones
Things We Know About Intelligence
From ways of measuring it to knowing what it really means, there are a lot of myths and misunderstandings about intelligence. After decades of research (or perhaps centuries, if you count pre-Scientific Revolution work), we still don’t know everything there is to know about intelligence, but in many areas we’re getting a whole lot closer to having a complete understanding. Here, we chronicle some of the more recent findings in intelligence research, some of which confirm things we’ve long known about our mental abilities along with a few findings that are still hotly contested by both scientists and laymen alike.
Intelligence is a more accurate predictor of future success than socioeconomic background.
Recent studies have shown that being from an economically disadvantaged background and lacking social connections may not hurt you as much when it comes to education and future success, provided you’ve got a high IQ, that is. Professor Yoav Ganzach at Tel Aviv University directly pitted socioeconomic status against intelligence, finding that intelligence was a better predictor of future success than money or status. While children of wealthier families often start higher on the totem pole at work, those who were more intelligent moved more quickly through the ranks and enjoyed better long-term pay prospects.Staying in school keeps IQ from slipping.
Staying in school has some big benefits when it comes to IQ. Education itself can have an impact on raising IQ, but the greatest effect of education on intelligence isn’t about raising it but maintaining it. Students who drop out show marked drops in IQ that tend to grow each additional month they’re away from school. This factor has been explored in a wide range of studies. In a large-scale Swedish study, researchers found that for each year of high school not completed, young men lost 1.8 IQ points. Others have shown a marked decline in IQ scores over the summer months when children are away from school.Your birthday can influence your IQ.
Your birthday doesn’t change your genetic propensity for having a higher or lower IQ, but it can have an effect on the environmental factors that impact intelligence. One of those is the first age at which children enter school, with those who are born later in the year likely to wait another full year before entering. When these students come of age, they will have been in school a full year less than their peers. How does this impact intelligence? Research has shown that there is a correlation between each year of school completed and IQ, with a gain of around 3.5 points for every year, resulting in students who are born late in the year having lower IQ scores as a group.Intelligence isn’t static.
The IQ you were born with won’t necessarily be the same as that you die with. While genetics plays a large role in determining intelligence, factors like education, job type, and even leisure activities can impact how intelligence changes as you age. Other forms of intelligence, like emotional intelligence, are even more dynamic and can be the result of a variety of experiences throughout life or even impacted by one’s own emotional state.Diet influences IQ.
When it comes to intelligence, the saying that you are what you eat couldn’t be more true. The structure and health of your brain is impacted significantly by what you eat, so it should be no surprise that IQ is as well. A study of more than 7,000 children found that a poor diet (rich in sugars, fats, and processed foods) in childhood led to a lower IQ later in life and that eating a healthy diet (rich in vegetables, fish, and healthy grains) resulted in a higher IQ. Another study of New York City schoolchildren found that by removing preservatives, colorings, dyes, and artificial flavoring from the school menu resulted in a 14% rise in IQ scores.Genetics has a powerful influence over IQ.
Researchers are increasingly leaning toward nature as being the primary determinant in our intelligence levels rather than nurture. This is based on a variety of factors but can include the efficiency of the connections in the brain, quality of the myelin sheaths around the axons in the brain (myelin acts like an insulator for electrical impulses in the body), the volume and location of gray matter in the cerebral cortex, the volume of sub-cortical gray matter, and the speediness of white matter tracts. These factors are highly heritable and can have a marked impact on intelligence, exerting an influence that only grows as an individual ages.IQ scores can make you more confident, or less so.
For some, a high IQ score may help them push to live up to their potential, make them more confident in their abilities, and motivate them to great success. Unfortunately, studies have shown that it can also have the opposite effect when scores aren’t so good. Some recipients of low or average scores simply give up, believing that their IQ has doomed them to a life of mediocrity so there’s no sense in even trying to be smart or achieve more than they believe their IQ affords them. The reality? IQ can play a role in success in life, but a wide range of other factors separate from general intelligence, like emotional intelligence, street smarts, and luck, also play a role. Those on the low end of the spectrum can wind up fabulously successful and those on the high end can just as easily wind up destitute.Breastfed babies do have a marginally higher IQ.
There is a lot of controversy surrounding whether or not mothers should breastfeed, with one of the key arguments for the practice being that babies that are breastfed have higher IQs. Whichever side you fall on, the reality is that there is a small increase in IQ in babies that are breastfed, usually between three and eight IQ points by age 3. It’s unclear what causes this but some researchers think it’s due to a combination of immune factors and high levels of omega-3 fatty acids in the mother’s milk, though new studies suggest it could be related to the occurrence of a particular gene.Less intelligent people may be more inclined toward prejudice.
The world can be a scary and confusing place, even to those who have the intelligence to understand the often complex factors that keep it running. To those without those abilities, it is undoubtedly an even more uncertain place. In a highly controversial new study, a team of Canadian researchers has found a link between intelligence and prejudice, showing that those with lower IQs are often more likely to develop prejudiced beliefs and to be more conservative in their views. This resistance to change and oversimplification of the world around them may be an attempt to create structure and order and make the world easier to comprehend, researchers believe. Not everyone is buying it though, and more research on the topic can be expected in future years. Not all intelligence ages the same.
Intelligence may change throughout your life. One of the key factors? Genetics. Your genes play a big role in how your brain ages and thus how your IQ ages, too. Of course, genes aren’t the only factor at play, as education, activity, and other environmental factors can help to raise or lower IQ regardless of age. A Scottish study that spanned over 80 years found that cognition changes with age, and that for some people, these changes are more rapid. For the most part, childhood intelligence was found to correlate with intelligence in old age, but the relationship was far from perfect, being influenced by genetics as well as environmental factors.Intelligence is correlated with more drinking, less sex.
Research has demonstrated some somewhat strange connections between intelligence, drinking, and intercourse. Two long-term studies, one in the UK and one in the U.S., found that more intelligent children grew up to drink more and more heavily as adults than less intelligent children. The reasons aren’t quite clear, and scientists have come up with a variety of reasons why this could be the case. Yet while the smart kids might grow up to be serious boozers, they’re much less likely than their peers to engage in sex as teens. Among students with IQs of 110 and above, 70.3% were virgins, while among those with slightly below average IQ (70 to 90) only 50.2% were virgins. An adolescent with an IQ of 100 was found to be one and a half to five times more likely to have had intercourse than a teen with a score of 120 or 130. Unsurprisingly, these results continue into college, with students at elite schools much less likely to have had sex than their peers at large. Those with higher IQ tend to worry more
Odd as it might seem, those with higher levels of intelligence tend to be worrywarts more than their less intelligence counterparts. New research suggests that intelligence may have co-evolved with worry in humans. Why? Because worry may cause individuals to avoid dangerous situations, even those with a low risk, resulting in higher levels of survival, making it just as positive of a trait to have as higher intelligence. Other studies have found that worry isn’t absent from those with low IQ, however, with those individuals tending to worry more, possibly because they struggle to achieve success in life. You can make yourself smarter but only if you believe you can.
If you believe that your intelligence is set from birth, then for you, it will be, research from Michigan State University suggests. Intelligence is malleable only to the degree that individuals believe it is, though genetic limits also play a role. Students participating in the study were asked to make split-second decisions and recordings were taken anytime a mistake was made. Those who believed that intelligence could change were much more likely to try to fix a mistake or to learn from it. These growth-minded individuals performed much better on subsequent tests, showing that sometimes ability really is all in the mind. Other studies have found that intelligence can be raised through better nutrition, education, and even exercise.Men and women demonstrate equal intelligence.
While much has been made of differing spatial and linguistic abilities in men and women, overall there is very little, if any, difference between women and men in terms of average general intelligence. This may go without saying today, but in past years it was a hotly debated topic, with many scientists believing that the smaller brain size and delicate temperament (so they said) made women intellectual inferiors. The only difference between male and female intelligence that can be substantiated? Intelligence in women seems to be tied to the frontal lobe and Broca’s area, while in men the frontal and parietal lobes are the seat of IQ.There’s more than one way to be smart.
Intelligence isn’t as simple as an IQ test might lead you to believe. In fact, some believe that IQ tests are highly unreliable ways to measure any type of intelligence, and they’ve been hotly contested since they were first put into use. Regardless of this fact, there is more to intelligence than just the narrow spectrum of mental abilities that are measurable by IQ tests. Many researchers now subscribe to the idea that there are multiple intelligences, seven to be precise, including linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, spatial, interpersonal, and intrapersonal. No matter which definition of intelligence you subscribe to, one thing is clear: the complexities of the human mind are hard to pin down in any one theory, and it may be years before we have any definitive ways to measure all aspects of human intelligence, not just how we score on tests. How to Memorize a Deck of Cards with Superhuman Speed

Editor’s note: This is a guest post from two-time USA Memory Champion, Ron White.
In 2009 I set a USA record for the fastest to memorize a deck of cards. I did it in 1 minute and 27 seconds. This record stood for two years in the United States. Now this may seem freakishly fast. But the good news for anyone attempting to memorize a deck of cards is that the first time I tried—just a year before—it took me over 6 minutes! I was not born with a natural ability; instead, I perfected a system that anyone can learn to memorize a deck of cards with seemingly superhuman speed.
The system consists of two main ingredients:
1. Creating a mental map
2. Creating substitute images for each playing card
2. Creating substitute images for each playing card

To create your mental map, you are going to take an imaginary walk, memorizing items as you go along. My suggestion is that you select a route you walk daily in your real life, such as a walk through your home. As you “walk,” you need to select 52 spots to store in your mental journal.
Here’s how it works:
1. Select 5 rooms in your house (i.e., bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room, garage).
2. Memorize 10 pieces of furniture in each room. Stand in the doorway of each room, and looking around the room, number 10 large items in a clockwise direction. For example, the first piece of furniture on your left may be a desk. Going around the room clockwise, #2 might be your bed, #3 could be a dresser, #4 a mirror, #5 a TV, etc. It really doesn’t matter which items you select, but if you use a television in one room, avoid using a television in another. And choose large items over small ones (e.g., the desk, not a pencil on the desk).
3. Repeat these 50 items over and over in your head until you can close your eyes and say them flawlessly and rapidly.
4. Now add 2 more pieces of furniture at the end—maybe in a new room or even 2 landmarks in your yard.

Create Images for Every Playing Card
This next part is where you use your creativity, and it is 100% up to you how you create the images. But every card needs to be turned into a noun (person, place, or thing). For example:
- King of Hearts could be your dad.
- Queen of Hearts could be your mom.
- Ace of Diamonds could be Donald Trump (diamonds = rich).
- 5 of Hearts could be your daughter Kailey because she is 5 years old and you love her (hearts could mean love for you).
- Queen of Clubs could be Madonna because she is a woman and sang in dance clubs.
- 3 of Diamonds could be a touchdown because three starts with a “T” and Diamonds a “D.” It’s a TD!
- King of Clubs could be Elvis because he is a male and sang in clubs.
- Ace of Hearts could be an airplane because they call a pilot who shoots down a lot of planes an “Ace,” and they stop hearts from beating.
- 6 of Hearts could be a tank because a 6 on its side kind of looks like a tank and tanks stop hearts from beating.
- 7 of Hearts could be dice because of “lucky 7″ and you love to play dice (again, hearts = love).
- Jack of Hearts could be someone named Jack or a name that starts with “J” that you love.
You get the idea; I just did 21% of the cards for you. There is no rhyme or reason to where these pictures come from and it doesn’t matter. All that matters is that you:
1. Create the images that make sense to YOU.
2. Spend time looking through a deck of cards over and over and over until you can recognize the image that goes with the card without hesitation.
2. Spend time looking through a deck of cards over and over and over until you can recognize the image that goes with the card without hesitation.
Putting It All together
You have memorized a map of your home and have pictures for every playing card. Now for the fun part. You get a timer and hit start and then pick up a shuffled deck of cards. Going through the deck as fast as you can, imagine the pictures for the cards one by one on your furniture.
If the 1st card you see is the 7 of Hearts, and you are using the image of dice I suggested above, then imagine dice flying out of your #1 piece of furniture. The more action and emotion you can use the better. The more bizarre the image is the better chance it will stick in your mind.
If the 2nd card you see is the King of Clubs, then imagine Elvis dancing on your number two piece of furniture (if you decide to use my suggestion above for the King of Clubs).

As you do this, make your pictures bizarre, unusual, and full of color and emotions. If you do, then you should be able to set the cards down, stop the timer and then pick up a second deck of cards and reassemble it to match the first deck by simply mentally walking through your home. Just like the top memory experts in the world do it.
1. Train to make sure you have your mental map and images for cards down cold.
2. Push your brain to go faster than you think is possible (you will be surprised).
3. HAVE FUN!!

Zombie Attack in Miami, FL - (video)
MIAMI -- The man who chewed the face off a homeless man before being shot to death by police might have been under the influence of bath salts, according to reports from CNN affiliates in Miami.
Larry Vega came upon the bizarre incident while riding his bike Saturday morning. He told WSVN-TV in Miami it was like something out of a horror movie.
"The guy was, like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, `Get off!'" Vega said. "The guy just kept eating the other guy away, like, ripping his skin. … It was just a blob of blood. You couldn't really see, it was just blood all over the place."
The suspect was later identified as Rudy Eugene, 31. An officer shot Eugene, but the attack continued. The officer fired again, killing Eugene.
While it's still not clear what led up to the gruesome attack and subsequent deadly shooting, police have a theory.
Fraternal Order of Police President Armando Aguilar told CNN affiliate WPLG that he believes Eugene might have been high on bath salts. Aguilar went on to say that there were four other incidents in the Miami-Dade area that bore some similarities to Saturday's incident, which some have called a zombie-like attack.
Bath salts have been in local and national headlines quite in the past couple of years, with some people likening the synthetic drugs to PCP, a popular recreational drug in the late '60s and '70s.
The effects of bath salts can mimic those of PCP, also known as angle dust.
"It's what we call in the police world, 'super human strength,' where it takes several officers to subdue the subject," Chandler Police Officer Seth Tyler told 3TV's Steve Ryan earlier this month.
One of the major problems with synthetic drugs like bath salts is that they do not show up on blood tests.
"Everyone thinks they can get away with it because you can't test for it on drug tests, but what we're seeing is that it's indeed very, very dangerous for our kids," explained Dr. Ravi Chandiramani, an addiction specialist with Journey Healing Centers. "The side effects can be similar to cocaine and meth, and many have been reported, including paranoia, hallucinations, heart palpitations, seizures, kidney failure and even death."
In February, Gov. Jan Brewer signed emergency legislation to ban seven specific chemical compounds used in bath salts. Street names of the drugs include ivory wave, ivory snow, ocean snow, vanilla sky, purple wave, zoon 2, red dove, wish rush and scarface.
Arizona's law came just a few months after the Drug Enforcement Agency made it illegal to possess the stimulants in bath salts. That emergency order expires in October, one year after it was issued, although there is an option for a six-month extension.
At this point, there are 33 other states that restrict or outright ban some of the chemicals in bath salts, according to the DEA.
While Arizona has not seen anything as disturbing as the Miami attack, emergency responders say they are seeing the extreme effects bath salts can have on people. According to a report taken by a Chandler officer recently, a boy tried to hack off his arm with a cleaver.
The victim of the Miami attack has not been identified. He remains in critical condition. According to what Aguilar told WPLG, at least 75 percent of the man's face is gone.
Investigators are looking for more witnesses to try and help them piece together what exactly happened in the minutes and hours before Eugene and his victim were discovered.

Meditation for Beginners: 20 Practical Tips for Quieting the Mind
Editor’s note: This is a guest post from Todd Goldfarb at the We The Change blog.
Meditation is the art of focusing 100% of your attention in one area. The practice comes with a myriad of well-publicized health benefits including increased concentration, decreased anxiety, and a general feeling of happiness.
Although a great number of people try meditation at some point in their lives, a small percentage actually stick with it for the long-term. This is unfortunate, and a possible reason is that many beginners do not begin with a mindset needed to make the practice sustainable.
The purpose of this article is to provide 20 practical recommendations to help beginners get past the initial hurdles and integrate meditation over the long term:
1) Make it a formal practice. You will only get to the next level in meditation by setting aside specific time (preferably two times a day) to be still.
2) Start with the breath. Breathing deep slows the heart rate, relaxes the muscles, focuses the mind and is an ideal way to begin practice.
3) Stretch first. Stretching loosens the muscles and tendons allowing you to sit (or lie) more comfortably. Additionally, stretching starts the process of “going inward” and brings added attention to the body.
3) Stretch first. Stretching loosens the muscles and tendons allowing you to sit (or lie) more comfortably. Additionally, stretching starts the process of “going inward” and brings added attention to the body.
4) Meditate with Purpose. Beginners must understand that meditation is an ACTIVE process. The art of focusing your attention to a single point is hard work, and you have to be purposefully engaged!
5) Notice frustration creep up on you. This is very common for beginners as we think “hey, what am I doing here” or “why can’t I just quiet my damn mind already”. When this happens, really focus in on your breath and let the frustrated feelings go.
6) Experiment. Although many of us think of effective meditation as a Yogi sitting cross-legged beneath a Bonzi tree, beginners should be more experimental and try different types of meditation. Try sitting, lying, eyes open, eyes closed, etc.
7) Feel your body parts. A great practice for beginning meditators is to take notice of the body when a meditative state starts to take hold. Once the mind quiets, put all your attention to the feet and then slowly move your way up the body (include your internal organs). This is very healthy and an indicator that you are on the right path.
8) Pick a specific room in your home to meditate. Make sure it is not the same room where you do work, exercise, or sleep. Place candles and other spiritual paraphernalia in the room to help you feel at ease.
9) Read a book (or two) on meditation. Preferably an instructional guide AND one that describes the benefits of deep meditative states. This will get you motivated. John Kabat-Zinn’sWherever You Go, There You Are
is terrific for beginners.
10) Commit for the long haul. Meditation is a life-long practice, and you will benefit most by NOT examining the results of your daily practice. Just do the best you can every day, and then let it go!
11) Listen to instructional tapes and CDs.
12) Generate moments of awareness during the day. Finding your breath and “being present” while not in formal practice is a wonderful way to evolve your meditation habits.
13) Make sure you will not be disturbed. One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is not insuring peaceful practice conditions. If you have it in the back of your mind that the phone might ring, your kids might wake, or your coffee pot might whistle than you will not be able to attain a state of deep relaxation.
14) Notice small adjustments. For beginning meditators, the slightest physical movements can transform a meditative practice from one of frustration to one of renewal. These adjustments may be barely noticeable to an observer, but they can mean everything for your practice.
15) Use a candle. Meditating with eyes closed can be challenging for a beginner. Lighting a candle and using it as your point of focus allows you to strengthen your attention with a visual cue. This can be very powerful.
16) Do NOT Stress. This may be the most important tip for beginners, and the hardest to implement. No matter what happens during your meditation practice, do not stress about it. This includes being nervous before meditating and angry afterwards. Meditation is what it is, and just do the best you can at the time.
17) Do it together. Meditating with a partner or loved one can have many wonderful benefits, and can improve your practice. However, it is necessary to make sure that you set agreed-upon ground rules before you begin!
18) Meditate early in the morning. Without a doubt, early morning is an ideal
time to practice: it is quieter, your mind is not filled with the usual clutter, and there is less chance you will be disturbed. Make it a habit to get up half an hour earlier to meditate.

19) Be Grateful at the end. Once your practice is through, spend 2-3 minutes feeling appreciative of the opportunity to practice and your mind’s ability to focus.
20) Notice when your interest in meditation begins to wane. Meditation is
hard work, and you will inevitably come to a point where it seemingly does not fit into the picture anymore. THIS is when you need your practice the most and I recommend you go back to the book(s) or the CD’s you listened to and become re-invigorated with the practice. Chances are that losing the ability to focus on meditation is parallel with your inability to focus in other areas of your life!

Meditation is an absolutely wonderful practice, but can be very difficult in the beginning. Use the tips described in this article to get your practice to the next level!
Simple Ways to Increase Your Intelligence
Your brain needs exercise just like a muscle. If you use it often and in the right ways, you will become a more skilled thinker and increase your ability to focus. But if you never use your brain, or abuse it with harmful chemicals, your ability to think and learn will deteriorate.
Here are 5 simple ways anyone can squeeze a bit more productivity out of the old gray matter.
1. Minimize Television Watching – This is a hard sell. People love vegetating in front of the television, myself included more often than I’d like. The problem is watching television doesn’t use your mental capacity OR allow it to recharge. It’s like having the energy sapped out of a muscle without the health benefits of exercise.
Don’t you feel drained after a couple hours of TV? Your eyes are sore and tired from being focused on the light box for so long. You don’t even have the energy to read a book.
When you feel like relaxing, try reading a book instead. If you’re too tired, listen to some music. When you’re with your friends or family, leave the tube off and have a conversation. All of these things use your mind more than television and allow you to relax.
2. Exercise – I used to think that I’d learn more by not exercising and using the time to read a book instead. But I realized that time spent exercising always leads to greater learning because it improves productivity during the time afterwards. Using your body clears your head and creates a wave of energy. Afterwards, you feel invigorated and can concentrate more easily.
3. Read Challenging Books – Many people like to read popular suspense fiction, but generally these books aren’t mentally stimulating. If you want to improve your thinking and writing ability you should read books that make you focus. Reading a classic novel can change your view of the world and will make you think in more precise, elegant English. Don’t be afraid to look up a word if you don’t know it, and don’t be afraid of dense passages. Take your time, re-read when necessary, and you’ll soon grow accustomed to the author’s style.
Once you get used to reading challenging books, I think you’ll find that you aren’t tempted to go back to page-turners. The challenge of learning new ideas is far more exciting than any tacky suspense-thriller.
4. Early to Bed, Early to Rise – Nothing makes it harder to concentrate than sleep deprivation. You’ll be most rejuvenated if you go to bed early and don’t sleep more than 8 hours. If you stay up late and compensate by sleeping late, you’ll wake up lethargic and have trouble focusing. In my experience the early morning hours are the most tranquil and productive. Waking up early gives you more productive hours and maximizes your mental acuity all day.
If you have the opportunity, take 10-20 minute naps when you are hit with a wave of drowsiness. Anything longer will make you lethargic, but a short nap will refresh you.
5. Take Time to Reflect – Often our lives get so hectic that we become overwhelmed without even realizing it. It becomes difficult to concentrate because nagging thoughts keep interrupting. Spending some time alone in reflection gives you a chance organize your thoughts and prioritize your responsibilities. Afterwards, you’ll have a better understanding of what’s important and what isn’t. The unimportant stuff won’t bother you anymore and your mind will feel less encumbered.
I’m not saying you need to sit on the floor cross-legged and chant ‘ommm’. Anything that allows a bit of prolonged solitude will do. One of my personal favorites is taking a solitary walk. Someone famous said, “All the best ideas occur while walking.” I think he was on to something. Experiment to find the activity that works best for you.
Conclusion – I hope you aren’t disappointed that none of the techniques I’ve proposed are revolutionary. But simple, unexciting answers are often the most valid. The challenge is having the will to adhere to them. If you succeed in following these 5 tips, you’ll be rewarded with increased mental acuity and retention of knowledge.
Tips On How Mind Control Can Help You Achieve Success
To attain success for all is something that can be achieved in theory, but just along the way to pursuing the set targets, some people may start to give up and lose their grip on the most important pillars that attach them to pursuing the set out targets. This is because they believe that failure is something that just happens to them and they have no particular control of it.
However, the truth is that it is all in their mind and they have chosen to fail. People can persistently be in desire of something in their life and set out a good strategic plan on how to achieve it, but without the resolution of the conscious mind, it is not easy to achieve it.
Hence, the desire and the subconscious mind have to be in harmony. Since the subconscious mind is in control of almost all behaviors and feelings, it's the nerve center of all body actions and decisions.
Therefore, establishing means of controlling it is the key to success. There are three main mind controlling tips that ensure success for all those who want to take their life to the next level by mastering their subconscious mind. This is just a way of convincing the mind that one is making wise and worthwhile decisions and taking or doing an activity that will yield good results, henceforth. They include:
Repetition: This is aimed at training the subconscious mind and enhances learning and change of perceptions and thinking. By repeating important factors to success such as targets and goals to the subconscious mind, it soon switches on automatically and becomes a reality.
This action creates a sense of firmness and new belief into the network of thinking in the subconscious mind. For instance, people who affirm their desires on waking up and repeat them during the day all through to sleeping time are likely to stay on course. However it is tougher to those who don't stay on course. This is an important success tip for all those who are about to lose hope in whatever course they are pursuing.
Visualization: visualization is a second success tip for all those trying to come up with an idea and just don't know how to go about it. By visualizing how the end results will be, one is able to make input requirement allocations and plans of execution appropriately. Perception of how the end product will be may bring positive change that acts as a motivator to creating the whole reality.
Emotions: Involving emotions in the process is the last step to achieving success for all people. This is similar to visualizing but it involves building the end result in the present situation and acting by convincing oneself that it has already happened. This, however, is not easy due to resistance in the subconscious mind but practice makes it tune to the new signature.
These basic success tips for all lay emphasis in the fact that practicing to control your subconscious mind makes one to be able to control his or her destiny and success for that matter.
